Research And Implementation Of Chinese Traditional Medicine Clinical Data Mining Platform

Data mining is the technology which can find useful infonnation intelligently in large databases. After the rapid development in recent years, data mining has been well applied in the business world and Internet domain. And it is gradually expanding to more areas. There are many scientific content has not been fully recognized in the TCM domain. After thousands of years of accumulation, there is a large number of information with great diversity and complexity clinic. If we can import the data mining technology into the TCM research well, we will discover the knowledge and laws hidden among huge amounts of data. This knowledge will greatly promote the innovation of TCM knowledge and the development of TCM science.Our lab has cooperated with the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine for data mining applications in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine since 2008. There have been many researches, including the data collection of TCM data, the construction of TCM clinical data warehouse, the development of the ETL tool for the data warehouse, and the applications in the clinical data of data mining algorithms like association rules, LDA topic model, POMDP model and so on. To better satisfy the follow-up needs of TCM clinical data mining application research, based on the studies above, we propose to design and implement a Chinese traditional medicine clinical data mining system. It will integrate the previous research results and a large number of classical data mining algorithms. It will be a convenient tool for TCM data mining analysis.This paper first describes the status of the medical and TCM data mining research, analyzes the characteristics of TCM data and the difficulties of the TCM data mining, and summarizes the requirements of the TCM data mining applications. Secondly, it introduces the previous research of data mining application in TCM field briefly. Then this paper introduces the design and implementation of the Chinese traditional medicine clinical data mining system in detail, including the system implementation techniques, the overall framework, the functional modules and the main processes, etc. Finally, it introduces some application tests and case studies on the system.
