With the rapid development of transportation and the rapid increase in various types of vehicles, they facilitate the lives of people and also raises many new problems at the same time. Therefore, traffic monitoring, security management increasingly has high demand. The human resources management can not meet the need and ITS(Intelligent Transportation System, ITS) is urgently needed. For the wavelet has a good performance in terms of energy conservation and feature extraction area, it is widely applied in the file compression, network communication, transport and other aspects of semantic applications.Wavelet is defined as a function in the finite interval and the average zero. Compared with the Fourier image, wavelet has a finite duration and mutation frequency and amplitude. The waveform can be irregular and also be asymmetric. The average is zero in the entire time range and it shows good locality.Wavelet multi-resolution, multi-scale image technology is used in vehicle detection, especially front face plate and vehicle signs are very clear on the high-resolution graphics, vehicle profile in the small size, low-resolution images become clearer. This can be solved with a video camera to complete the two recognition tasks. At the same time wavelet multi-resolution, multi-scale technology can be applied to multi-level recognition in the vehicle, and with the wavelet transform through a scale, a resolution images compared with the corresponding template, according to comparison results done several times in the form of a vote to decide whether the second match is successful. For the wavelet with scaling, and translation function, so search vehicle identification and license plate recognition are far easier to achieve positioning effect in the image area.
