Hydropower resources is clean and pollution-free renewable energy, hydroelectric unit is the sit which can convert hydropower resources to electricity. The hydraulic turbine generating system is an important part of the hydroelectric unit,which mainly complete the regulation of the unit's output frequency, the regulation performance quality directly related to the grid power quality. The hydraulic turbine generating system is a very complex system with time-varying,non-minimum phase and nonlinear. At present, the domestic and international still more adopts the traditional PID control strategy to accomplish the hydraulic turbine generating system control, however, for such complex system, the traditional PID control strategy because of using fixed parameters to complete control, it's difficult to obtain excellent control effect under various of different conditions. A self-tuning fuzzy-PID controller, which can online correct PID parameters of each link through fuzzy reasoning according to different conditions is expounded in this paper, and it integrated the advantages of fuzzy control and PID control.At last, through the simulation research,we can find that put this controller applied to the hydraulic turbine system, the system's dynamic performance has been improved compared to use the traditional PID controller.In this paper, firstly, the composition characteristic of the hydraulic turbine generating system and its research status and trend of development are briefly introduced. Then it analyzes the hydraulic turbine governing system's working principle, structure, and its various modules mathematical model, and then get the whole mathematical model of the hydraulic turbine generating system. On the basis of making detailed research and analysis on the fuzzy control and PID control, it design a kind of self-tuning fuzzy-PID controller which can suitable for the hydraulic turbine generating system, and the effects of its control is analysised and researched by using the simulation software of Matlab.Simulation results show that the proposed self-tuning fuzzy-PID controller can complete the work of correcting PID controller online, and compared with traditional PID control, the system obtains smaller overshoot, and its response speed and robustness have been increase, this makes the control performance of hydraulic turbine control system is greatly improved.
