Remote sensing data information as an important spatial information source, relying on the timeliness and practicability, has been widely used in the resources and environment exploration, environmental disaster monitoring military detection, land use, the crop yield estimation, digital earth and so on, has a vital significance of national defense, economic and social development. Along with the satellite remote sensing data collection technology unceasing development, the spatial resolution improvement of the remote sensing image has reached very accurate degree. Looking to the future, remote sensing technology will be faster and more accurate to provide mankind more geographical information data. Facing these mass data, explore new technology and method, to acquire more and more accurate important information from satellite remote sensing image, has long been a key technical problem of remote sensing image processing area need to be addressed.in order to clearly and accurately extracted road information from remote sensing image, This paper proposed a method through the mathematical morphology and wavelet packet method extract remote sensing images in road information. This paper proposed a method based the mathematical morphology and wavelet packet method to extract remote sensing images in road information. Firstly, this paper introduces the theory and technical basis of extracting road information in remote sensing image. Then according to the road spectrum characteristics and road geometry etc to identify the road, in order to clearly and effectively extract the edge of the road information in remote sensing image, proposed a comprehensive and multi-scale morphology adaptive edge detection algorithm, the method is based on the theory of mathematical morphology, propose an improved anti-noise type of mathematical morphology edge detection operator. And then based on the mathematical morphology edge detection operators, considering the geometrical characteristics of remote sensing image and the noise influence, proposed multi-structure, multi-scale structural elements. Since to extract the edges of road information from remote sensing image, the road information is influenced by the surrounding noise. In order to extract the clear edge information, reduce the influence of noise, use the wavelet packet transform algorithm to further process the remote sensing images.Finally the mathematical morphology and wavelet packet method was applied to the actual remote sensing image. First, the method using mathematical morphology to extract the remote sensing images, but the extracted images contains more noise, then we use the wavelet packet method to filter irrelevant information, through wavelet packet and mathematical morphological method of image processing, can extract we need road information. Experiments show that, extracting road information in remote sensing image, using wavelet packet and mathematical morphology method can remove the noise interference, clearly and concisely extracted road information. Through the future improvement of mathematical morphology edge detection operators and wavelet packet algorithm, extracting road information in remote sensing image will be more accurate.
