The research works are made on the characteristic of the ultra-wide band/multi-band printed antennas in this thesis. The contexts of the thesis are divided intothree parts, an ultra-wideband printed antenna is presented in the first part; and amulti-band antenna for WLAN and WiMAX applications is proposed in the second part;and a notebook antenna for WIFI application is proposed in last part. The details are asfollows:1. An ultra-wideband printed antenna fed by micro-strip is proposed. Theband-notched characteristic is achieved by inserting slots on the ground. From theresults, the bandwidth(VSWR<2)of the proposed antenna is 8.6GHz(2.9GHz~11.5GHz),which covers the whole range of UWB , and the two rejectedband are formed at 3.2GHz~3.9GHz and 5GHz~5.9GHz. Good radiationperformance over the entire frequency range has also been achieved..2. A multi-band monopole printed antenna is introduced. The antenna covers the2.4/5.2/5.8 GHz WLAN and 3.5 GHz WiMAX operating band. From the simulateresults, the omni-directional pattern, good gain, and broad bandwidth performanceover the operating bands have been obtained.3. A notebook antenna is designed. The antenna is suitable for the notebook whichis consisted of metal. The antenna covers the whole range of WIFI(2.4~2.484 GHz).From the results, the antenna can meet the design targets, such as the impedancebandwidth, the efficiency and the gain.
