Millimeter-wave radar has guided high precision, strong anti-jamming capability, high Doppler resolution and strong plasma penetration ability, etc. Whether military or civilian, millimeter wave radar technology have been extensive demanded, but it is influenced seriously by rainfall. In order to all weather application, the influences of rainfall on the performance for millimeter wave radar need be studied.In this paper, in the process for calculating and analyzing the detecting performance of millimeter wave radar influenced by rainfall, an analysis software of millimeter wave radar detecting performance influenced by rainfall is developed. The factors of influence of the rainfall on millimeter wave radar detecting performance are analyzed, such as scattering properties of raindrops, rainfall attenuation, rainfall backscatter, simple target radar cross section area and rain clutter echo power etc. Based on VC, MATLAB and FORTRAN programming with mixed method, the functional modules of this analysis software are designed.The VC interface functions, MATLAB image processing functions and FORTRAN numerical computation functions are fully utilized in the design process of the calculating and analyzing software. This software has flexible and convenient for human-computer interaction and beautiful interface. Through the testing for the various functions, such as the rain backscattering cross-sectional area, rain clutter echo power, the relationships of radar receiver signal-to-clutter ratio and signal-to-noise ratio with radar detecting target distance are calculated and analyzed by use of the software. Compared with the results of calculating by software and theory, it is shown that the software has good reliability, feasibility and validity, meet the requirement of design, and has certain practical values.
