The study on the modeling and analysis about various characteristic of near-shore sea surface electromagnetic (EM) scattering plays an important part in radar estimation, system design, target detection and remote sensing. Three methods, Kirchhoff approximation, small perturbation method and two-scale method, are used here to analysis near-shore sea surface EM scattering and near-shore sea clutter characteristic. The following topics are addressed in the study:1. Two approaches for simulating near-shore sea surface, sea wave function method and Monte-Carlo method, are introduced. Based on these approaches, the near-shore sea surface is modeling in terms of near-shore sea spectrum, then the influence of different parameters on geometric characteristics of near-shore sea surface is investigated in detail.2. The backscattering coefficients of near-shore sea surface are numerically calculated by using Kirchhoff approximation, which are compared with their counterparts of classical sea surface, and the results are analyzed in detail.3. The backscattering coefficients of near-shore sea surface are also numerically calculated by applying the modified two-scale method, the comparison between the results for near-shore sea surface and classical sea surface is made and the analysis is developed in detail.4. The near-shore sea clutter time series are numerically simulated, then the amplitude distribution and the characteristics of power spectrum of sea clutter data are further analyzed.
