Video surveillance involves a variety of techniques, including image matching, video stabilization, image mosaic and hardware design. It has a wide range of applications in military and defense, traffic management, intelligent buildings and industrial production. These techniques are fused in this paper. First image matching algorithm is introduced, which includes geometric correction, matching technique and image smoothing. It focuses on real-time computing, while ensuring accuracy of image matching. On the basis of the calculation of high-quality image matching, this thesis focuses on the video image stabilization technology. An improved representative point matching algorithm is proposed based on analysis and comparison of the existing video image stabilization algorithms. This approach can effectively suppress interference of moving object in monitor screen. The real-time and effectiveness of this method has been proven by experiments on TMS320DM642 video processing platform. In the next section, the image mosaic technology has been researched, and a fast approach of color image mosaic is proposed. The experimental results show that this method is simple in calculation and high precision. And it has good mosaic results in video image which has different brightness. According to demand of achineving video stabilization and image mosaic in the same hardware platform, a high-performance digital media processing platform based on TITMS320DM642 is designed. The clock frequency of DSP chip in this platform is 600MHz, which will ensure that it can implement complex digital image processing operations. At the same time the video processing platform integrates a CPLD chip, which manages the chips logic in the system. It also has 2 PAL standard video input ports and 1 PAL standard video output port.4M×64bit SDRAM in this platform can store up to 32 images. A large number of program can be writed in 4M×8bit FLASH, which has self-booting function and can be used as an embedded product.10-100M Ethernet port and RS485 Serial Driver is also designed in the system. It uses a single+5 V voltage supply, which is very convenient. This platform comprehensive account of the interaction of each functional module, and it has a certain degree of integrated innovation. DSP and CPLD processor collaborative achieve real-time video processing. It improves the overall response speed by improving processing speed, image storage speed and many other techniques. DSP uses EDMA technology to achieve high-speed image data transmission. Large-capacity SDRAM chips are integrated in the system in order to expand the system storage space. These technologies can ensure the system functions and the demand of real-time in software calculation.
