Research and design of walk aiding robot for elder and disabled people is under the background of aging of the world's population continues to deepen. Design of walk aiding robot is to meet the needs of independent, secure remote travel for elder and disabled people, has real value and significance. Design of assistant navigation system for walk aiding robot is part of walk aiding robot research, mainly resolves the assistant navigation of walk aiding robot in the local living area. This paper presents the design of assistant navigation of walk aiding robot, implement robot position and user walking guide.First of all, design and implementation system software and hardware platform, including realization of the hardware platform based on ARM processor, and software platform based on Windows CE operation system.Second, solve the problem of map building, including design of map format, map data collection, creation of road net, and map precision control. Modify the error of road net data using the point estimates and line fitting methods.Third, design and implementation of human robot interaction based on touch screen, including robot status information LCD screen output and user command touch screen input. Implement robot positioning based on GPS. Implement user walking guide based on environment map, including position information display, walk path and show etc.Last, design communication between robot and monitor based on GPRS, implement status monitoring of robot and user.
