With the infiltration of computers into our society, the security of the information system, especially of the database is more and more essential. In the untrusted environments, encryption is an effective method to protect the safety of data. Whereas, the existing database encryption methods are puzzled to the unprofessional database administrators and hard to be realized. So we expect a new encryption scheme which is efficient, intelligible and realizable.This paper research on the multifarious technologies of database encryption, and point out their merit and shortage. And based on above, we give the Random Matrix Encryption Scheme (for short below:RMES).The major work of the research is that we state the theory of RMES, and define an analogous addition rule according to different type of data. By the modeling of the cipher matrix, we discuss the initialization and usage of the matrix. We expound the RMES algorithm in detail, and show the feasible scheme according to the operation of the encrypted database. Finally, based on the stage of Visual C++6.0 and SQL Server 2000, we validate the security and efficiency by experiments.The RMES is cushy to be understood and easy to be realized. It is applicable in the daily need of database encryption. It can be widely popularized and provide satisfied protection to the important data. It has been used in the examination system of the author's work, and has successfully protected the exam questions. RMES can be promoted to a wider usage. |
