Model Predictive Control (MPC) is an advanced control algorithm. Due to the constraints of object complexity and running environment, MPC need a larger prediction horizon and control horizon. That increases the quantity of controller computation, and lowers the control quality. As the existing algorithm, MPC is applicable only to large sampling period with a slow dynamic process and the environment with high performance computers, which greatly limits its application in broader areas. To increase MPC applications, reduce the online computation and speed up the control process, we need to use a simplified predictive control algorithm.This article reviews the status of current MPC simplified algorithm, and introduces the implementation process of Dynamic Matrix Control algorithm. Focus on MPC simplified algorithm based on strategy, and analyze two important parameters-prediction horizon and control horizon, and three simplified algorithms generated from it.Firstly, Blocking Technology is introduced. Blocking Technology breaks the traditional thinking of time-domain predictive control and control horizon of continuous time control, it adopts the equidistant intervals to set prediction horizon. Raise the optimal method of blocking technology based on the equidistant intervals of output value of step response, and compare with the use of genetic algorithm optimization method Blocking Technology through simulation, and finally make the basic principles of Blocking Technology selection.Secondly, the aggregation algorithm is introduced. Outline three typical aggregation algorithms;focus on the attenuation aggregation algorithms and analysis the relations between the dimensions of aggregation matrix, arrangement of elements, attenuation and control performance. The simulation analysis the results and obtain guidelines about aggregation matrix. Based on the attenuation aggregation algorithm for optimization, the attenuation aggregation algorithm for decoupling is proposed, and makes the simulation comparison with the attenuation aggregation algorithms.Finally, after studying blocking technology and aggregation algorithm, variable control strategy is proposed. According to the characters of two control strategies, different control strategies are adopted in different output states. Also, variable control strategy switching method is introduced. Variable control strategy not only can overcome the shortcomings of a single control strategy, but also can combine the advantages of two strategies to further improve control performance.
