ABSTRACT:The technology of optical arbitrary waveform generation has been used in high-quality light source, optical information processing, ultra-high-speed communication and other applications. The generation of ultra-short optical pulses, not only require the short pulse width, but also the tunability of waveform and repetition rate. How to generate ultra-short and tunable pulses is an important issue.The Fourier transform of pulses have been discussed here. We analyze and compare the Fourier transforms based ultra-short pulse shaping system in detail. All-fiber, amplitude and phase controlled line-by-line pulse shaping system is discussed in this paper. The innovation is:we use optical fiber ring cavity based comb to generate optical Frequency comb; use fiber ring resonator with fiber grating to improve the accuracy of filter; use the variable optical attenuator and the PZT phase retarders control the amplitude and phase of spectrum respectively.The main jobs of this article include the following:1) Clearly understand the principle of pulse shaping on the basis of Fourier transform by researching on both present condition and future trend of ultra-short pulse shaping at home and abroad. The all-fiber O-AWG structure use the way of getting continuous light penetrated into photoelectric phase regulator to get optical comb, then filtrate the needed spectrum through FBGs from it, finally manipulate individual spectrum's amplitude and phrase.2) To build a systems model, at first, explain it as a whole, then comprehensively analysis the principle of each part meanwhile get the parameters which need to shape signals by theoretical calculation.3) Briefly analyze the affection of dispersion to pulse signal. Take triangle pulse as an example, analyze the affection to the synthetic waveform by changing spectrum's amplitude, phrase, and amount through Matlab simulation.Having done both numerical and theoretical analysis to ultra-short pulse shaping technology which on the basis of Fourier transform and established basic system architecture, the result shows that this all-fiber ultra-short optical generator has a widespread potential application value to pulse shaping technology. |
