In recent years, applications based on Wi-Fi become more and more popular, especially some small MCU applications, for example, data acquisition system based on Wi-Fi and virtual serial system based on Wi-Fi. So, people concern more and more about the security of the Wi-Fi based on MCU.The most popular security strategy of wireless network are WEP and WPA/WPA2. WEP is part of IEEE 802.11 standard, which is passed in September 1999. But due to the development of computer science and the upgrade of computer performance, WEP is not safe now. In order to enhance the security of wireless network, people began to use WPA in 2003. WPA implements the most parts of IEEE 802.11i, and it uses TKIP to replace WEP. It highly enhances the security of wireless network.This paper mainly talks about the WPA and analyzes the WPA client software wpa_supplicant. Wpa_supplicant is based on operating system. This paper analyzes the working principle and process of wpa_supplicant, and transplants the WPA-PSK parts of wpa_supplicant to the MCU system with imited resources and without operating system. Then, we implement an application using WPA based on MCU. At last, we test the WPA based on MCU from the function and performance aspects, and list the main test data.
