As the advance of technology and the increase of acquirement, the image sonar on small platform has become to be one important kind of sonar. In image sonar, the real-time processing of acoustic image is the significant skill. During the whole image processing, segmentation and edge detection are the main skill as well as the precondition and basic of the image recognition. Image processing will be researched in this article from real-time and segmentation.For the gray is the main character of acoustic image, the segmentation based on threshold of gray and the edge detection based on grads of gray can be used in image processing. In order to get the gray threshold, the maximum variance between-cluster algorithm is used in this article. It divides the gray image into two parts-object and background-avail of gray histogram and gets the threshold when the variance between this two parts reaches to maximum. In order to get the edge of the object, the Sobel and Prewitt operator is used. Then the pixel where the grads reach to the maximum can be saved as the edge of the object according to the sudden change of gray. Besides the two algorithms, median image filtering and contrast enhancement have been used in this article for image enhancement.For realizing the real-time image processing, DaVinci technology has been used in this article. The core of this technology is a kind of dual-core digital signal processor produced by TI. High processing performance of DSP and high control performance of ARM are integrated in the core. Moreover, there are plenty of peripherals such as interface and memorizer in the technology. For these advantages, DaVinci technology can be used in video and image processing. The processing of acoustic image will be realized on the platform of DaVinci in this article.
