In recent years, there has been increasing interest in microstrip antennas, due to the inherent advantadges of microstrip antennes, such as small volume, lightweight, flexible design. And at present, mobile station, equipment, and termimal become miniaturize and multifunctional, especially after the publication of the UWB frequency band in 2002.The study and application of ultra-wide band microstrip antennas and multi-frequency band microstrip antennas has been the hotspot.The basic theory of microstrip antennas is presented first in this thesis, including definition of the microstrip antennas, the radiation theory, sorts of microstrip antennas, ways of feed and analyzing, etc. Then, according to these theory, using electromagnetic simulation software, CST, to model and simulate rectangular and circinal microsrip antennas, and then, comparing the effect of two basic parameters on useful frequency band.The major content of this paper can divide into two parts. The first part is design of ultra-wide antennas, on the basic of gradual change configuration can widen frequency band, and combining method of equivalent area, we design two ultra-wide band antennas, the useful frequency band of which one of them cover the whole UWB frequency, even more wide than it. Dual-band antennas in UWB frequency band is realized in second part. We start with the classical method, then adopt the means of loading slots to achieve the purpose.At last, we summerize the research of this thesis, raise deficiencies and some needed to improved problems in this paper.
