Pragmatic Analysis Of TV Entertainment Programme Host's Language

Nowadays, entertainment programme is an important form in TV world. In recent years, with the demand of people, TV entertainment shows keeping steady development and growth. TV entertainment programme host plays a very important role in a show, and an excellent host influences the high rating of TV directly. In the role playing of the host, the language style is vital to all the aspects of a programme. Therefore, in this paper, it is focus on pragmatic analysis of TV entertainment programme host's language according to linguistic material that from two Chinese popular TV entertainment programmes, namely,"Kang Xi"and"If You Are The One". There are five chapters in this paper.In the first chapter, it is an introduction part, it demonstrates the basis for topic selection of this paper, and a brief review of relevant study of pragmatic analysis of TV hosts language. According to the applied principle of linguistic of TV entertainment programme hosts by analysis of typical contexts, it achieves the language art of popular hosts. The foundation and value of this paper is providing some references in terms of linguistic principle for TV entertainment programme hosts.Second chapter indicates a linguistic analysis of topic by entertainment programme hosts in terms of topic choice, topic change and extension of topic. In this chapter, it proves that the topic of entertainment programme hosts need to focus on entertainment and humour. The aim of entertainment programme is pursuing amusement elements, whereas that of topic choice is closely around this aim moving. In the TV entertainment programmes, it is a basic linguistic requirement to grasp topic choice smoothly for hosts. Moreover, it is not only sets a topic but also guides a topic choice by a host for highlight the entertainment effect. As for topic change and extension of topic, it not only tests strain ability of the host but also determined the entertainment function of an entertainment show.In the third chapter, there is an analysis of conversation principle by entertainment programme host. According to the linguistic material, compared with normal conversation, the conversation of entertainment programme host is more special. Therefore, it requires the language of host follows common conversation principle but also with particularities that because amusement plays an dominant role in an entertainment programme. Thus, the conversation of hosts with guests and audience need to follow entertainment principle in a TV entertainment programme. Cooperative principle points that participants expect that each will make a conversational contribution such as is required, at the stage at which it occurs, by the accepted purpose or direction of the talk exchange. In addition, politeness principle is the ability of participants in a social interaction to engage in interaction in an atmosphere of relative harmony.In the next chapter, it focus on analyzes the pragmatic failure by entertainment programme hosts. According to the linguistic material of"Kang Xi"and"If You Are The One", some pragmatic mistakes make different humors effects in some programmes. Generally, a host in a programme need to avoid pragmatic failure and try to ensure pragmatic standard. However, some pragmatic mistakes made by hosts come out unexpected entertainment effects that make the mistakes with the value of entertainment.In the last chapter, there is a conclusion of this paper. It concludes the following results. First of all, the location and principle is entertainment effects of some TV entertainment shows such as"Kang Xi", thus, hosts language is targeting on entertainment principle in terms of topic choice, topic change and extension of topic. Secondly, TV entertainment show hosts need to follow conversation principle as well, however, there are some special elements with host's language, thus, it need to adapt different circumstances with special elements of conversation principle. Last but not least, pragmatic failure by entertainment programme hosts that makes some strong humors effects sometimes, but the application of this kind of"pragmatic mistakes"need to appropriate.In conclusion, the language of entertainment programme host is a kind of special conversation, it will be helpful to promote the status of entertainment programme by strengthening study and standardize.
