Tool measuring machine based on imaging is a pre-set instrument by measuring the cutting locations, the angles, the circles radius and so on parameters of cutting tools. The role of it is rapidly and accurately determining the geometric parameter of every cutting tool in the library of CNC machine .Its performance directly affect the accuracy and efficiency of CNC machine tools and machining center . As the increasingly high demand for quality of CNC machining,.People constantly put forward new demands to the performance, operation, and the necessary tools of scientific classification and management parameters and other auxiliary functions of the equipment , This makes tool presetter to be more precision, intelligence and human in practice.Image–type tool presetter is a precise measuring instruments integrated with optical, electrical and machine, Its use and research is still in the initial stage in our country, technology is relatively backward, measuring accuracy of the tool parameters need to be improved , the independent research and development can not keep up with demand for the domestic market . Visual system is an important part of this instrument , This issue completed construction of the visual system based on high resolution digital camera. Deeply studied image processing techniques in visual detection, choose daptive image processing algorithms and realize in VC++. Improve the measurement accuracy and speed of the tool, so the accuracy and efficiency of CNC machine tools and machining center improved relatively.The main research content and work as follows:1. Complete the design and implementation of vision system and software system in image-type tool preseter,the instrument is stable after several measuring experiments.2. An in-depth study of image processing technology in vision inspection was conducted and the program of image preprocessing, edge detection, edge tracing, detection of cutting tool type and calculation of geometric parameters was completed. By research the fit algorithm of image processing was selected .A algorithm of sub-pixel edge detection was researched with improvement in speed and accuracy of cutter measurement.3. A simple algorithm called"Differential Approach and Reverse Calculation"for calculation of geometric parameters and detection of feature points was set. This algorithm is simple, efficient, accurate, and insensitive with noise.4. Completed the software of the system,realize the function of save,print, automatic measurement, manual measurement, zero calibration, image processing, tool library, camera calibration, unit conversion, transfer sets of selection, language selection.
