3GPP LTE based on the technology of OFDM and MIMO and it is the long term evolution of 3G system.It has made great improvement on the network structure and radio access. Handover is one of the most important aspects in mobile management. Because of the distributed network architecture and the streamlined signaling design, the handover procedure can complete faster and more effectively. And with the development of High-speed Railway in our country, people's lives convenient but also put forward higher requirements to High-speed Rail information services, one of which is the frequently handover because of the high-speed moving. Based on the advantages of LTE technology which has been mentioned above, the coverage of High-speed railway communication systems will comprehensively use LTE technology.The first part of this paper summarizes the LTE network architecture and access technology, and introduces the handover procedure of the LTE system. And based on detailed analysis of the handover procedure, a TDD-LTE cellular network simulation platform has been established based on MATLAB. Based on the simulation platform, a research on parameters involved in the intra-frequency handover has been made, and compared the performances of handover under different parameters through simulation. And conclude to the necessary of handover and important of parameter optimization. The second part of this paper introduces the characteristics of High-speed Rail and problem of handover in high speed environment and referred to a special solution which called chain-shaped neighbor cell priority handover algorithm for this problem. Base on the algorithm mentioned above, a model for analyse the parameter optimization has been established, finally we also analyzed the performances of handover under different parameters and the important of parameter optimization through simulation. Simulation results also show that parameter optimization and channel condition are related.
