Study Of Localization Algorithms In Wireless Sensor Network

As one of the ten emerging technologies in the future, wireless sensor network, which is now widely used in military detection, environment monitoring, forest fireproofing and medical care, has broad application prospect. Because locating information of nodes is important in all applications, the study of localization algorithms becomes one hotspot in wireless sensor network.On the basis of introduction of wireless sensor network, the paper analyses the general process and evaluating indicator of localization algorithms. The received signal strength indicator method and DV-Hop algorithm are studied, the principles and flow paths are given, as well as the simulation results.The paper makes an intensive study of DV-Hop algorithm. Based on the principle and simulation result of DV-Hop, the reasons causing localization error are figured out, and three schemes are proposed to improve the performance of DV-Hop.The combination of signal strength indicator method and DV-Hop is the first scheme, the principle of which is given. Aiming at the improvement of the performance of this scheme is limited, the second scheme is proposed by using the correction value of the whole network instead of the correction value from the nearest anchor node. Then, the scheme using a refinement algorithm is put forward. On the basis of analysis the advantages and disadvantages of three schemes, a new algorithm, whose main advantage is decreasing the localization error greatly, is proposed, the principle and path flow are also given.The three schemes, whose performance is analyzed theoretically, are simulated. The simulation results show that they decrease the localization error in varying degrees. The work done in the paper has good reference value for the study of localization algorithms.
