As an all-weather and all-time working sensor, inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) has found many applications. It has been widely used in strategic defense, anti-satellite weapon, tactical weapon and spaceflight. ISAR theory and technique have seen great developments in recent years. This paper discusses mainly the ISAR imaging of planes.For the two dimensional ISAR image, the plane target can be regarded as a rotation module. Based on the rotation module, the movement of the plane target can be divided into a horizontal component and a moving component. The first one is useless to the ISAR image, and it must be compensated. This is the most important step for ISAR imaging. This paper uses the envelope correlation algorithm to align the range, we give some improvement.A design and implementation method of ISAR echo simulation based on rotation module is introduced in this paper. ISAR echo is generated from the simulated plane model, and it is used to validate the arithmetic of the ISAR imaging.
