In recent years, with the rapid development of the application in embedded systems, the development on embedded system was different from that on desktop, for the embedded system orienting to application directly, whose software integrated closely with its hardware.The difference among hardware platforms were brought by the diversification of the applications.This subject came from the actual project of an institution as part. Based on researching the development technology of ARM embedded system, an ARM-based controlling system was designed.Through acquising and processing the information from peripherals, the entire system was controlled and the communication between them was implemented. The factors of cost and performance were taken into account and the ARM chip produced by NXP Inc.was chosen as the controlling chip of the hardware platform, and hardware design was completed.It contained control module, serial communication module, data acquisition module, extended memory module and GPIO circuit, etc.This paper described the implementation of system start-up code, software design.Furthermore, the procedure and approach of debugging of the whole system were also described in the paper.
