The study on the Synthetic Aperture Laser Radar Imaging (SAIL) which employs aperture synthesis with coherent laser radar, and the main work of this thesis are as follows:1. Laser range profile is calculated based on the rough object beam laser pulse radar equations. Range resolution is discussed based on range ambiguity function. Pulse compression technique is used to simulate the laser range profile for actual laser Linear Frequency Modulation(LFM) signal.2. Physical optics approximation and ray tracing are utilized to simulate the target scattering characteristics, laser range profile based on the characteristics are calculated, compared with the theoretical results, the method is proved to be right.3. The heterodyne detection echo signal of synthetic aperture imaging laser radar is shown. the carrier to noise ratio(CNR) is discussed here and is compared with the CNR of the radio frequency(RF) radar and direct detection laser radar. The complete signal processing is given, the causes and effects of phase noise is also discussed.4. The effect of Non-Linear Frequency Modulation(LFM) transmit signal and low pulse repetition frequency(PRF) is discussed, speckle phenomenon is simulated based on fourier optics and array signal theory, and the effect on signal-noise-rate(SNR) is discussed. the impact of atmospheric effects are analysised, the results of atmospheric coherence length to the imaging and synthetic aperture efficiency are shown. The radial motion and rotation of target are analysised.
