Infrared technology which has been widely used in the current electric power, military, industrial and other fields, has become an important development target in various countries, especially the fault diagnosis of electrical equipment plays an important role in the equipment of high-voltage and high current power, If you get people to test, it will be very dangerous, but the technology of Infrared imaging is unique advantages, in this regard.In this thesis, infrared image segmentation research work includes the following parts:First, the mechanism of infrared imaging is introduced. Infrared image and several traditional simulation algorithms of visible were compared, including histogram, noise; This paper analyzes the characteristics of infrared image, a new algorithm combining platform histogram equalization with enhanced high-pass filtering is proposed. The algorithm can effectively improve the contrast by comparison, it is obvious to the noise effect, highlighting the objectives and details.Second, The traditional threshold-based iterative and OTSU conducted a simulation ,we improved OTSU algorithm, The results of simulation show that effect is very good, this method could very well reflect the range of temperature.Third, the theory of CA has been applied to extract the edge, Three of the CA algorithm and Traditional algorithms was simulated, The results showed that the CA is very sharp and keep the edge of the gray , texture of the edge is delicate ,it is better than traditional threshold.Fourth, it is based on the combination of Cellular Automata (CA) and the improved OTSU method. Firstly, infrared images of electrical equipment were enhanced. Secondly, the edges of the enhanced images were detected by using CA. Then Binary was also done. At last, the enhanced images were combined with those segmented by improved OTSU. The experimental results show that the algorithm can make the processed infrared image target clearer and more suitable to be observed by human eyes, which makes a good foundation for the subsequent target identification and fault diagnosis.Fifth, The infrared image is broken down into different temperature ranges,In order to diagnose the failures of equipment.
