As the core part of surface plasmon resonance(SPR) detecting instruments, the development of SPR sensors is always the focus of many researchers'attention. Miniature, multi-channel, high sensitivity, diversification are its development direction. At present, some companies such as BIAcore, Sensata have already promoted their commercialized SPR detecting instruments or sensors. And there are also many home research institutions studying on this subject. The purpose of this paper is to develop a intensity-modulated surface plasmon resonance array sensor based on polarization control to lay a solid foundation for developping SPR detecting instrument. The basic principle of SPR, development of SPR sensor at home and abroad, application fields of SPR detecting techniques are briefly introduced at the beginning of this paper. Then the development process of SPR sensor is described in detail, which consists of several steps:the first is simulating SPR sensor's initial optical structure. The impacts of incident angle, gold firm thickness, polarizer angle, wavelength and data processing on its sensitivity and measuring range were analyzed and sensor systems with wavelength set 632.8nm and 740nm were experimentally studied. after that, it is designing sensor's each mechanical module in Solidworks then assembling and adjusting the sensor. And the sensor structure is proposed to improve the extinction of new ways.It is concluded that Intensity-modulated SPR array sensor turns the polarization state change of light wave during the excitation of surface plasmons into intensity change to detect and in an easily controllable measurement range, an appropriate parameter selection can be set and produce high sensitivity with a simple optical and mechanical structure and lower production costs.
