PTDN Multicast And Intercommunication Between IP Multicast And PTDN Multicast

With the rapid development of network, many new multimedia applications appear, such as online meeting, video on demand, online class, etc. The traditional unicast and broadcast cannot to meet the needs of those applications and the multicast technology emerges. On the other hand, the inherent IP network security, reliability and service quality issues cannot be completely solved on the long-term. Under the standard of ITU-T Y.2601 and Y.2611, we proposed a new grid—Public packet Telecommunications Date Network (PTDN), which is safe, reliable, knowable and controllable. How to realize the intercommunication between the IP Multicast and the PTDN Multicast is an important issue.According to the architecture model, the message format and the protocol of the IP Multicast, this paper designs PTDN Multicast based on the characteristics of PTDN, including the working modes, addressing modes, the kinds of service and the multicast routing protocols. It is focused on establishment and maintenance of the multicast tree. By comparing the similarities and differences between IP Multicast and PTDN Multicast, we analyzed the feasibility of exchange between the two and set up a simple model of intercommunication between them. At last, it raised a multi-RP strategy, which can realize the intercommunication between the IP Multicast and the PTDN Multicast by Dual-stack technology and VPN technology used in the edge devices, the address mapping system and the network management devices, the processes of addressing-exchange, timer and stating-exchange. We focused on the achievement of related functions of the first hop router, the source edge device, the receiver-side edge and the last hop router. The intercommunication between the IP Multicast and PTDN Multicast is not only an important part of the integration of the IP network and the PTDN network, but also a basis for the intercommunication of multicast between other bearer network and service network.
