CAN-bus with fast transmission speed, long transmission distance, high reliability, strong anti-interference characteristics, thus gradually applied to ship communication network. Navigation system as an integral part of ship, the reliability of its communication network effects the entire ship on the voyage. Usually in order to improve network reliability, take the equipment fully redundant. Although the reliability of this method is high, the costs of operation and maintenance are relatively high. Thus, the design of a more rational network of highly reliable CAN communication is feasible.This article is targeted to meet the requirements of high reliability network communication, presented an optimized communications solutions base on the CAN-bus communication system. Considering of failure prone of CAN-bus operation, designed the high-reliability communications network consisting of the intelligent redundant node, CAN bridge / repeater with integrated navigation device communication protocol.Under VxWorks embedded operating system and Tornado integrated development environment research for high reliability CAN network communication technology.First of all, designed the CAN network nodes under the SJA1000 controller for meeting the high reliability requirements. By writing the driver to make the node not only communicate on CAN-bus normaly, but also detect CAN-bus communication status automatically, switch bus when find the bus error, to achieve the double-line redundancy features meeting the high reliability of network communications requirements. Second, design the CAN bridge / repeater according to system requirements. CAN bridge / repeater could complete the dual CAN-bus network packet exchange of information with better real-time, accuracy and reliability. Finaliy, set communication protocol between devices based on the application layer of the ship navigation system. Make the same packet information format of device accessing to the navigation system. Improve the ease of use, reliability and maintainability of ship navigation communication system.
