In the 1990s, smart antenna technology was introduced into the mobile communications, to complete the spatial filtering and positioning. This paper mainly studies the algorithms of smart antenna, including the DOA estimation and beam-forming. Super-resolution technique is used in DOA estimation to be sure signal can accurately reach the target location. Beam-forming technology can form a beam at the target, and also can achieve effective tracking and observation. This paper has three aspects.First, to improve MUSIC algorithm for the incident signals are related or coherent, the classical MUSIC algorithm performance degradation and even failure. The improved MUSIC algorithm is still able to make the incident signals accurately arrive at a reference array, and correctly estimate DOA.Then, several best performances criteria that used in beam -forming, which can produce different convergence and computational complexity were introduced. It is simulated and compared that the LMS, CM convergence of the algorithm and beam pattern in this paper.Finally, using the minimum error rate algorithm is applied to form a new beam-forming technology. When the desired signal and interference signal are synchronized, the algorithm can well restrain interferences in communication systems are very good. The results are better than LMS algorithm, regardless in error, convergence rate, and computational complexity.
