A Study On The Formation Mechanism Of Group Events In The Period Of Social Transformation

Since China’s reform and opening up, our economic construction has made great achievements, people’s living standards continue to improve. But because our country is in the period of social transformation, the old system has been broken, and a new balance system has not yet been established, the society has produced many contradictions, The mass incidents caused by labor conflicts, land acquisition and relocation, environment pollution, the restructuring of state-owned enterprises and the rights protection are increasing year by year. Look from the situation in recent years, the scale of mass incidents is expanding, participants are increasingly diverse. The frequent mass incidents, the enlargement of the scale and the complication of participants has caused great impact on social order and social harmony. Therefore, the study of mass incidents has a great influence on maintaining social harmony and stability, and promoting social justice and civilization.This article closely combined with the practice, from the angle of relative deprivation theory, study the present situation, the characteristics and the mechanism of mass incidents in Chinese transitional period, on the basis of this, puts forward corresponding preventive countermeasure.Under the perspective of theory of relative deprivation,this paper argues that the factors of mass incidents during social transformation can be divided into objective reasons and subjective reasons. Objective reasons include: social interest structure is imbalance, part of people’s interests is damaged; the government’s credibility is low, trigger mass anger; interest expression channel is impeded, people’s discourse power is deprived; lack of social equity and justice, fair chance is deprived. The subjective reason are: people select improper reference group; egalitarianism deeply rooted; resentment of rich and officer. Therefore, we should start from the following several aspects to resolve and prevent mass incidents during social transformation: developing the local economy; improve the mechanism of interest expression and consultation; construct a honest and efficient government, establish and improve the fair mechanism of participation in social development; help people to choose reasonable reference group; lead people to set up the correct concept of fair; promote people’s ability of psychological adjustment; improve the system of public mood tracking, opinion polls and customs inspection.Mass incidents is the inevitable issue of social transformation, it affects the steady development of society, government and the country. Its negative influence is huge, and we cannot let it go unchecked. So, we must establish effective mechanism to solve mass incidents during social transformation, to reduce and to avoid the occurrence of mass incidents, then to the reduce the damage to the society and to minimize negative impacts.
