| Composed of the Great Britain as well as its former dominions, colonies anddependencies, the Commonwealth can be derived from the English Empire. Havingexperienced the national liberation movement against Britain, the colonial ruler, afterthe World War I and the World War II, these newly independent former colonies soonjoined the Commonwealth. In the following decades, as the national strength ofBritain fell, Britain could no longer be the dominator of Commonwealth, and themember states show an increasing centrifugal incline. Therefore, many people doubtthe existence value of the Commonwealth. The thesis firstly reviews the founding anddevelopment of Commonwealth, then focuses on the development of theCommonwealth in its core value, organization, internal connection and cooperationamong these member states, internal contradictions etc. in the post Cold War era.
