A Study On The Social Security Of Peasant Workers In Yunnan Province

With the deepening of the reform and opening-up, the level of economicdevelopment in Yunnan Province is improving, urbanization and industrializationprocess is also accelerating, in this process there is a special group of migrant workershas appeared. A large number of migrant workers come into the cities becoming animportant part of the industrial workers, their distribution in the various sectors of thenational economy, they created wealth for their city, brought funds for rural, and at thesame time the vitality of urban and rural got developed. However, the limitations ofthe household registration system has made migrant workers be in the sandwich classbetween urban residents and farmers, the lack of protection of their legitimate rightsand interests, which brought great risks for Yunnan’s sustained economic developmentand social stability.Yunnan’s current social security system for migrant workers is not perfect, manyprovinces are still in the exploratory stage and imitation. The special status of migrantworkers made them cannot be integrated into the urban social security system, alsofrom the social security system in rural areas. How to build an appropriate andeffective social security system for migrant workers has become the important workof the department of social security. As a major agricultural province in China,Yunnan Province’s agricultural population and the number of migrant workers arevery large. As the vast mountainous area of Yunnan Province, many ethnic minorities,economically underdeveloped objective conditions still face a lot of difficulties andproblems to establish and improve the social security system of migrant workers,which also includes certain limitations.Based on this situation, this study is beginning with the background andsignificance of the study from the social security of migrant workers. And then itillustrated the migrant workers, the social security system and other related concepts.Based on the classic theory of social security, this study analyzed the social securitysystem to establish feasibility of sound. And this study focuses on the survival statusof migrant workers, the lack of interest and the vulnerability of the social securitysystem in Yunnan Province. Based on our unique socio-economic situation, weanalyzed the deep-seated reason of lack of interest. Finally, this study is drawing onthe example of foreign and domestic advanced and mature residents and migrantworkers in the social security system of the migrant workers, for how to establish and improve migrant workers social security system reform system in Yunnan Province, itproposed some recommendations, reforms related systems (including household andland system, social insurance system and related legal system, speed up urbanization,lower the threshold for social insurance proposals, strengthen the training of migrantworkers, strengthen the management of migrant workers service.
