Western Contemporary Culture Industry is stepping up its space via film, television,network and books in the era of globalization. With economy and culture are involved in this global tide, some cultural subjects develop their cultural exportation and cultural transmission by virtue of their own information, capital and staffs under the cross-cultural context, and one of the very important mediums is movie. In Asia,South Korean movie, starting almost synchronously with Chinese movie, has attracted worldwide attention with remarkable achievements in twenty-first century.Gradually, South Korean movie has taken a place from a nobody to somebody in the East and even starts their own voice to the world. Therefore, the author tries to explain how South Korean movie shows western people the images of the East or the indigenous image-building. By the reference of Said’s orientalism as well as the post-colonial theory, and combined with the theory of movie, this paper is centered on explaining in detail how the western world constructs everything about the East(South Korean) through an oriental discourse, to present the imaginary East(South Korean), to research the reproducibility of the image of South Korean finally with the text analysis and the comparative analysis method.There are three main parts in this paper. First of all, clarify the development of South Korea since the new century. Secondly, study the oriental culture image construction in South Korean movie according to Said’s orientalism. Thirdly, bring some reference to Chinese movie from the cross-cultural mode of South Korean movie. Meanwhile, this article will carry on the concrete elaboration with four chapters. The first chapter is the definition of some concepts and theoretical attribution; the second chapter is the analysis of the construction of the oriental cultural image on the narrative level; the third chapter is aimed at the production level to make a concrete analysis of the eastern culture and the last chapter is about that same as the eastern cultural circle how Chinese movies make a certain reference for the development of South Korean movies. In conclusion, the main idea is to explain how South Korean movies reproduce and construct personal eastern images thatcould be accepted by the West as well as keeping indigenous characteristics in different cultures. Then how to cater to the West on the basis of indigenization is what the theoretical value and actual meaning matters. Finally, China could also get enlightenment from the cross-cultural construction that Chinese movie may learn from South Korean on making and distributing movies.
