Chinese has a long history as the language of the Han nationality, it is one of the six working languages stipulate by the United Nations, and use the language of the largest population in the world today. Delighted, we found that nowadays many foreign learners’Chinese language level in terms of pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar reached a very high level, learning Chinese rhetoric knowledge to improve their communication ability, writing ability, the ability of reading and appreciation of literary works, as well as learn about Chinese culture knowledge has become the urgent needs of the students. Therefore, to discuss the rhetorical teaching Chinese as a foreign language, to improve students ability in comprehensive Chinese application and daily communication ability has a positive role and significance.The teaching materials can link to the teachers and students, it is the embodiment of the rhetoric teaching overall design. The author thinks that the content of teaching materials is reflect the students’ learning content, so the writing condition of figures of speech in the textbooks also can reflect the students’ learning situation in rhetoric method. The New Practical Chinese Reader is a new textbook written by English native speakers or medium language learners, both in domestic and abroad, it is widely used in China and also highly recommended by NOTCFL(国家汉办).This article will be the New Practical Chinese Reader as the backing, to analyze the teaching material in the early, middle and senior the figures of speech which appeared in the three stages of the text are sorted out and analyzed, calculated out the use of rhetoric and the number of all kinds of rhetorical devices used in the textbook. Second, it also analyzed each stage of the text in figures of speech.This article summarized according to the results of the rhetoric features of writing in this set of textbooks, arranged according to these characteristics bring forward some opinions and teachers can adopt some teaching methods in using teaching material, in order to provide certain help for the teaching of figures of speech.
