A Contrastive Study Of Chinese And Japanese

Language is a kind of sign system, a carrier of culture, a unique “wealth” of human beings. According to the ordinary understanding, language is to speak. But in the linguistics, language is not just to speak, it is an indispensable part of the talk. As a kind of language phenomenon, address form is an essential part of the talk, a necessary part of communication. It can not only reflect the identity, position, age and closeness of the two sides of the communication, but also imply social culture and values. From the whole point of view, the address form is a relatively stable system.But it is not immutable, it will also change with times. The semantics of some address forms become narrowing, some become generalized, and there are some new address forms. No matter what, the change of address forms is the result to pursuit more appropriate ones. It reflects the self-compensation function of address system. In this thesis, the Chinese and Japanese address forms were studied. On the basis of the previous studies, this paper made a comparative study on the address forms between China and Japan. By analysis, induction, comparison and other methods, the classification, form and usage of Chinese and Japanese address forms were overviewed, and the differences were summarized. So that readers can have an overall understanding of the Chinese and Japanese address forms, and make better use of them in the actual life.
