Peter Doig is one of the most influential painters in British contemporary art.At the same time, he was the artist who painted the unique vitality on the shelf after David Hockney.In Peter Doig’s works, there are not only the return of the painting but also have their own unique characteristics of the painting style of painting.In fact, as early as in 1993 he won the John Moore Award and won the Turner Prize nomination in 1994.In the moment of the decline of the concept of Art,this is not only the artistic characteristics of his personal creation, but also the trend of the development of the whole art.Peter Doig is attracting contemporary artists and critics with their own unique painting ideas.Peter Doig’s works called white boat Photographed at a high price and created the highest record of the being alive European artist’s work in the world until 2007.This had aroused widespread concern in the world of the arts and the media.In this paper, the "white boat" series of works as a clue explore Peter Doig’s unique art of painting and the expression of loneliness and human nature.The author conducts the research through the following three chapters:The first chapter is the introduction of the "Sensation" and "The Triumph of Painting" two exhibition by Charles Saatchi, contemporary art collector, as the beginning of the paper.Sign of understanding of the development of British contemporary art and make it as Peter Doig emerge.And then Peter Doig compared with the British contemporary young artists(YBA)to found that the formation and originality Doig’s painting style.The second chapter is the key chapter of this thesis.This chapter tries to find the hidden clues of white boat from three angles of the spirit, schema and aesthetics.Spiritual clues:I researched mainly from three aspects of Doig "nomadic" experience, dream and fear in film called Friday 13 th and human isolated and closed at the moment. Schema cues:First,I studied the way that movie image transformed into a repeated deformation of the canoe.Second, there was a comparative analysis between the classical works of Missouri’s fur merchant and the white boat.Last,there was a deep consideration that why contemporary artists like to paint a series of works. Aesthetic clues:Mainly Classical painting and painting Doig discussed in the aesthetic.And then the works had different expressions about feeling in the end of the century.The third chapter,there was an analysis of Peter Doig’s unique theme selection from modern architecture in the field of space,snow filled Northland scenery and tropical rain forests in Trinidad Island.And then there was a research about mysterious painting language from diffuse snow,horizontal segmentation and wild spot.Peter Doig showed a psychedelic visual effect under the covered with multiple layers of color and staggered texture changes through the beautiful color collocation and unique perspective. The works’ theme selection with strong personal imprint brought the viewer intothe one never explored before field.Psychedelic colors distilled off the temptation that the eyes can not stand.The same subject repeated deformation to the original ordinary theme more mysterious.However, lonely mood are the same.For most people, the feeling of loneliness may be negative, dark, and helpless.But Doig’s works is a positive, motivated and full of hope.Doig also want to use these seemingly negative elements to show the positive aspects of inner consciousness.To promote the richness and perfection of human nature by the appeal of the works of Art,promote the harmonious development of human nature and activate the beauty of human nature with the beauty of Art.
