Research On The Category Of Adverbial Space

This essay will study the spatial category of Zhuang language(WuMing) from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, and will be based on some spatial cognition theories. This essay aims to give an induction and summary to the linguistic spatial category in Zhuang language.This essay discusses some aspects of the linguistic spatial category in Zhuang language:The author introduces the meaning of studying the spatial category in Zhuang language briefly, and summarizes the relative research status in China in chapter one.There is a description of the spatial locative relationships in the Zhuang language in the second chapter. In this part, the author sums up the Zhuang language’s important localizers, existential verbs, directional verbs in a traditional method, and discusses how these words express locative information and the spatial locative relationships.The third chapter analyzes the spatial locative relationships in the Zhuang language according to the spatial frame of reference made by Levinson. The author describes the spatial position expression of the Zhuang language in the absolute or relative frame of reference and the intrinsic frame of reference. Then the author analyzes the distinguishing features of the Zhuang language’s spatial position cognition and the origin of these phenomena.In the fourth chapter, the author analyzes the metaphor of the spatial category in the Zhuang language according to the metaphor theories of the cognitive linguistics. The author sums up and analyzes the spatial metaphor’s functions of the spatial words, the directional verbs and the prepositions in the Zhuang language based on the different meanings.In the fifth chapter, the author analyzes the grammaticallization of the spatial category in the Zhuang language. This part mainly gives an introduction to the grammaticallization of the directional verbs in spatial displacement expression in the Zhuang language, because the verbs are not only important to the changes of the syntactic function, they are also improve the cognition of the spatial category.The author summarizes the contents of the essay, and points out the deficiencies on the last part.
