Researchers have observed these changes and have done a number of individual studies so far, but as to the research on differences and the comparison of the laws of this change in each dialects remains insufficient. To obtain accurate quantitative analysis and probability, this article discusses the conditions that changes the word-initial short vowel ’a’ into front-vowel [?] and [ε], based on the corpus, and analyses the results for comparison study. This article is consists of an introduction, body, conclusion and appendices section. The introduction part describes the purpose, status and methods of researches in front-vowels like [?] and [ε]. Followed by the analysis of conditions that lead [?] and [ε] to appear in some particular dialects in Inner Mongolia like Bairin, Khorchin, Kharchin, Chahar, Alsha, and Ordos etc.The conclusion part mainly concludes the general trend and reason that causes the word-initial short vowel ’a’ to change into [?] or [ε], and found that this forth level decreases from east Inner Mongolia to the west. The reason, that made this forth in vowel, is actually the internal reason of the language’s change of structure. The reduction of the back-vowel’i’ and auto adjustment of energy balance in inter-language that caused by this reduction, is the main reason of this forth.
