‘Repetition’, as a basic element for art creation, exists in human civilizations in various forms. Inheritance of human culture is reflected by artistic repetition: repetition may create art, while art also needs it to carry artistry. Therefore, repetition, as an important creation language, has been recognized by artists both in ancient and modern times, with its practical significance gradually growing in different art forms.In art of painting, our understanding of repetition shall not remain objective and mechanical copy. Instead, we shall take repetition as a tool for art creation and integrate object’s inner spirit and artists’ connotations. In this way, art works will be a unity of form and spirit and totally natural. The writer intends to discuss the emphasis effect, artistry and rhythm as well as the specific features inside or outside the picture generated from application of point- line-and surface repetition by combining points, lines and plane with repetition, in an attempt to improve artists’ deep-rooted critical attitudes towards repetition, so that the art language will be further used in art creation and diversify our art creation.The paper actively interprets the essence of repetition and digs repetition’s inner implications in simple language by consulting a number of literatures and taking analysis of practical art work and combining the basic elements, such as point, line and plane. She also unveils the significance of repetition to art creation by integrating her own understanding of the art language.
