For Eileen Chang who is a talented woman appeared in the 40 s, as we known that she grew up in a complicated time between new and old generations. She accepted the Chinese classical culture and modern western culture at the same time so that she has formed the diversified perspective and unique artistic features. But the most familiar point is that Eileen Chang is good at writing the tragedy of universal family life and her keynote is the "desolate".If we talk about that Eileen Chang and her novels unique sense of tragedy writing, we have to think about that she mixed the cultural criticism into no matter where of our life. Although there are less dramatic conflict in her novels, the plot stay in deep shock to people with endless thinking. Unlike Lao She, she was never involved in the lives of the characters in her works, without so deep in love, mercy and compassion to sympathize with the people, to live the tragic life experience by herself. But to sit on the sidelines, calm writing, with impartial judgment vision to write stories and life. Of course, this can not be said that her works are without care in people. The calm indictment of the old forces and feudal culture, and the criticism of social culture and the feudal family is to show her humanistic care for female, for the new life, and for the young generation. This paper is based on the reference of previous research results, going back to Zhang’s works as the main object to study, trying to be innovative which is mainly showed in turning back to the text as much as possible, using a new aspect which is different from the point about "Eileen Chang’s tragedy is the tragedy of her own life, to write the unhappy family life is because her own family background”. Exploring the social significance and cultural value of the the tragic works, and for further confirming the significance of anti feudalism in the works of Eileen Chang, studying her caring for women, and the understanding of life.This thesis consists of three chapters: the first chapter mainly by the analysis of the inside of the characters in and the analysis of the causes of the tragic fate of the characters in Eileen Chang’s works, and by interpretating the author through the description of the characters to express her deep understanding of the tragedy of life; The second chapter writes the social factors of the tragic fate of the characters, the living environment and social background description are analyzed for explaining the tragedy of people, and therefore for appreciating Eileen Chang’s criticism for the culture of society and the significance of anti feudalism. All of these can help us to further realize the realistic significance of the novel and its cultural value. The third chapter by analyzing its artistic features and writing techniques of the shallow slightly, which reflected the works of Eileen Chang’s tragedy is how showed by the writer.
