On The Development Of Henan Opera Opera

Henan Opera is the most widely circulated and influential local opera in China, whose aria is forceful, cadent, and of long flavor; whose characters mostly originates from straightforward, lively and optimistic people themselves from Henan; and whose subjects are pulled from life details of common people, which makes it accepted by the public.In 1956, the first Henan Opera film Hua Mulan was completed under the guidance of “double hundred policy”, which, for the first time, enabled Henan Opera widely disseminated in the method of film. From then on, Henan Opera began its ups-and-downs journey. There were some very popular masterpieces, such as Hua Mulan, Mu Guiying Command, A Petty Magistrate of County, I Love My Dad, Sacrifice, and so on, which combined advantages of employments and approaches from both opera and film, although many ephemeral works also appeared at the meantime in the past sixty years of the development of Henan Opera.Under the circumstances of market economy, it is more necessary to summarize and elaborate Henan Opera in the level of theory. This thesis, herein, is committed to analyzing representatives of each period and their masterpieces in light of the corresponding historical background, finding problems, and probing the direction of the development of Henan Opera on the basis of characteristics of Henan culture and audience’s needs.
