A Study On The Asymmetric Social Address Of Chinese And English

Address forms is the first part of communication, whether the proper use of address forms related to communication can proceed smoothly, so it is particularly important to the proper use of address forms. Social address forms is an important part of address forms, we found that there are a lot of asymmetric phenomenon in modern Chinese social address forms, this paper tooks Shen’s theory as the instruction from the asymmetry and labeling theory. At the same time, this article also mentioned the traditional mark theory founded by N.T rubetzkoy and R.J akobsn.Shen says that the goal of the people engaged in research on language has two kinds:one is to make a proper description of language phenomenon, one is to give a reasonable explanation of linguistic phenomenon.This paper described the asymmetric phenomenon in modern Chinese address forms and made a reasonable explanation at the same time. This paper researched on the asymmetric phenomenon in modern Chinese in three angles:One is the asymmetry phenomenon in modern Chinese social address forms. The second is the asymmetry phenomenon in modern social address forms between Chinese and English.
