Face recognition which developed in evolution, is one of the most important skills of human being. Substantial information such as emotion, age, gender, race can be obtained via face recognition. There is a universal phenomenon in face recognition that people usually have a better recognition skill of own race face, named other race effect(ORE). Numerous research have already made the comprehensive explorations of ORE, and reached kinds of explanations, such as Contact Hypothesis, Hypothesis of Processing Method, and In-group/Out-group Model, which are got support from neurophysiologic evidence. Presently, the effect of configural and feature information in ORE is still in doubt. Event Relative Potential(ERP) was used in present study for exploring the neural mechanism of configural and feature information in ORE via P1,N170 indicates.1 test and 3 experiments are included present study. The test aims at finding out separation of configural and feature information in face, supports reliable material for following experiments. Experiments 1 used matching paradigm to explore the mechanism of configural processing in racial faces. Experiments 2 used matching paradigm to explore the mechanism of feature processing in racial faces. Experiments 3 investigated the racial effect to single feature information.Main outcomes are follows.(1) Other race effect occurs in facial configural processing as well as facial feature processing.(2) Other race effect of facial configural information processing is elicited by the structured processing differences between races.(3) Other race effect of facial feature information processing is elicited by the attention differences between races.(4) There is no other race effect for single feature information.(5) Other race effect of facial information is influenced by the ability of left or right cerebral hemisphere, there is a right hemisphere advantage for own race facial configural information processing.
