Optimism is a kind of positive attitude or tendency when forecasting future events. Optimism bias means "in the case of identical probability events, compared with others, consider the possibility of individual positive events happen to them is higher than the others, the possibility of negative events in his body below the tendency of others."According manifestation of optimism bias, it can be divided into type I pointing his optimism bias (ie, consider the possibility of positive events happen to them larger) and type II pointing others optimistic bias (ie, think of negative events in others who’s more likely). It can be seen through the literature review, optimistic bias both positive and negative effects. This study consists of three parts:A study of 180 college students were measured optimism bias, the results showed that the student population there is widespread optimism bias on life events, subjects in the positive events and negative events scores were significantly higher than the average of three, namely think positive the event is more likely to happen to them, and negative events more likely to occur in others. After the optimistic bias in accordance with type I and II optimism optimistic bias deviation classification, we also found that college students were tested on a larger type II deviation degree. We also tested the optimism bias differences in different grades, the results showed that the optimism bias is a common phenomenon, there is no difference in age, gender, grade, etc. on these demographic variables.Study 2 used a priming paradigm of 2 (positive events, negative events) X 2 (me, him),We analyzed the reaction under the four conditions, the results showed a significant main effects and interactions. The main effect of event titers showed significantly less than the reaction of negative events when subjects in a positive reaction of events; That is, the subjects for the identification and processing of positive events faster. Interaction analysis showed that the subjects under the positive events start to "my" reaction time significantly less than under the condition of negative events start to "my" reaction, that is to say participants coupled himself and positive events more closely.Research 3 uses the Implicit Association Test, let the individual assessment their close relationship or non-intimacy may experience some possibility of life events. Experimental results showed that the compatibility conditions’(close relationship with positive events coupling, non-intimacy with negative events coupling) and incompatible conditions’(close relationship with negative events, non-intimacy with positive events link) reaction time significantly difference. Shows that the subjects’implicit attitude is positive events link more closely with the intimacy, negative event link more closely with the non-intimacy.To sum up, in this study, a combination of measurements and experimental evidence obtained there is widespread optimism bias of college students for life events. The results of the main effects and interactions was found that positive events processing is faster than negative events; Students link themselves with positive events faster than with negative events. In addition, participants showed higher positive deviation to intimate relationship.Prospects for future research:first of all, in-depth study from the direction of cognitive neuroscience, perhaps an important means to understand optimistic bias; Second, future studies should be optimistic and pessimistic bias deviation simultaneously investigated; Again, from the perspective of health interventions, inspect for optimism bias has important theoretical and practical significance.
