Shi Tuo (Lu Fen) is the writer who started to create literary in the early 1930’s, and enjoyed a certain reputation in the literary world in the late 1930’s. The people and things in his hometown struggling in the line of life and death has been written under the double oppression of tradition and foreign invasion. He crossed the creation path of the prevailing "Beijing style" and "Left Wing", and different from exposing scar which was started by Lu Xun, the "Local Novels" was caused for the purpose of curing, with its unique perspective, expressing his thoughts about "human". He deliberately in the different types of people to find their common ordinary place, whether it is the poor peasant or landlord bully, city of civilians or the country bandits, Shi Tuo shaped them with sympathy. They wandered in nature; they suffered a karma; they felt the relentless of time and they experienced illness in the dead town. It sometimes revealed that Shi Tuo believed in the philosophy which is inaction and natural and unrestrained of Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi; sometimes it flashed his compassionate Buddhist heart; sometimes it crossed the ocean and reached a certain kind of agreement with Western existentialism; and sometimes it revealed the unchanged China village rules. There is a huge space of the meaning of works Shi Tuo’s works.In the long times study of Shi Tuo, so many people including the people who wrote literary history will designated him to the "Beijing style", which had its historical reasons that Shi Tuo’s own achievements had also been buried for a long time. This paper will take a new perspective to interpret the novels of Shi Tuo in the 1930’s and 1940’s.The introduction part of this paper mainly expounded the reason, meaning and the research status and trend of domestic and international on this subject. Then on this basis, illustrates the research method and points out the problem to solve.The modern poetry in the imagination of Shi Tuo’s local novels was mainly discussed in the first chapter. His creation was analyzed in the status Chinese social and literary, and the local novel was combed from the source, on the basis of this view to treated the local novel which has been created by Shi Tuo and different from Beijing style and realistic style, besides, the point that appear united outwardly but divided at heart with the western philosophy of Existentialism were analyzed,then digging the connotation of Shi Tuo’s original text.The novella "Owner of a hopeless village " was mainly set in the second chapter as an example, to show the Buddhism in feelings of Shi Tuo, and it was shaped in the works that the hopeless village actually is a innuendo of all rural villages of China as well, it has its means of National Fable.The achievements of his representative works "orchard city" was mainly analyzed in the third chapter, the author’s strokes was from the familiar true village to the imaginary Town, and showed it is a time dimension of a dead city. The short works is the self creation of author that the short story can also run on a growth article, it is also a sign of maturity which the author has reached on the literary attainments.The works of Shi Tuo’s novel was mainly discussed in the fourth chapter. The author not only stepped from short to long,even beyond the imagination from rural to city. In "Ma Lan", "marriage" and other novels, not only shows Shi Tuo’s ability of controlling novels, but also sees his vigor of innovation from the form to content of the works.Shi Tuo’s creation of novel in 1930’s and 1940’s was discussed in the conclusion part, Shi Tuo as a writer who was misread or forgotten by literary history, his contribution to the history of literature was summarized. Shi Tuo’s novel style is not a simple "Beijing style" or "left wing", he created a style walking between the realistic style and lyric, and the most important is whether his local novels or city novels, Shi Tuo is rooted in the Central Plains earth that nourished him. His attention is different from other contemporary writers, such as exposed the side of rural backwardness, ignorance and arouse their wisdom. What Shi Tuo shaped is a man who makes people feel pity in the works, which is to undertake the theme of "people" in the "5.4" period.
