Although it is one of the bright stars in the galaxy of the civilization of ancient China, the literature in Yuan Dynasty can’t be on a par either with the poetry in Tang and Song Dynasties or the literature in Ming and Qing Dynasties which are regarded as literature trendsetting vane. It is Ding He Nian who reflects the unique beauty of the literature in Yuan Dynasty which is extensively considered as a romantic, simple, rugged as well as refined era.Spanning both Yuan and Ming dynasties, Ding He Nian struggled in the harsh war times of late Yuan Dynasty and appreciated highly the millennium of the early Ming Dynasty. Therefore, his works better represent the literature style of late Yuan Dynasty than the works written by the other literary giants such as Sha Du Ci and he led the poetry trends of the early Ming Dynasty. Nevertheless, his literary attainment was unknown to the vast academia and even forgotten at one time due to his vagrant life. He was born in a noble family but he got rid of the thought of becoming an official. He is a member of the Hui nationality but he made painstaking efforts to study Confucianism. Afraid of being drafted into the army, he went to Zhenjiang at the age of eighteen and his eighty-year vagrant life which tore him apart commenced from then on. He wrote lots of writings all his life. Being of various versions, the book,< An Anthology of Ding He Nian > was published and handed down from ancient times. In view of the fact that much research on Ding He Nian’s biography and poetic creations has been conducted for thirty years, the author made no attempt to explore the hot themes and attached great importance to exploring the friendship poem creations which were written by those officials, scholars, relatives, friends as well as monks who had intimate relations with Ding He Nian. The author elaborated on their mutual impact on literature creations and explained that Ding He Nian’s aesthetic orientation in his poems was strongly influenced by his exclusive life experience. The author conducted the textual research on Ding He Nian’s friendship poems and rewrote the chronology pursuant to the textual research on the circle of friends. The metamorphosis experience of Ding He Nian’s aesthetic style was explored in chronological order.Furthermore, the new creation in the thesis is that Ding He Nian’s poetic creations can be interpreted by means of the textual research on the friendship. Adding the highlight to the thesis, the textual research on the geographical locations written in Ding He Nian’s friendship poems was conducted.
