Since his first book published in1975, Guo Xuebo, with a continuous creativeenthusiasm, has published a lot of works, Wolf Child in Desert, Sand Fox, the Soul ofDesert, the Hero Qingqi Gadameilin, etc. and won lots of remarkable awards, homeand abroad. Based on his hometown in Horqin Sand Land, he gravelly depicts thehistory and current situation of the degradation of grassland, making his works witha strong ecology concern. Therefore, Guo Xuebo is significant and unique in thecontemporary Chinese ecological literature’s creation force.Starting from the novel writing, this paper, based on the research of currentsituations, analyzes the multiple ecological connotations contained in Guo Xuebo’sworks. This paper consists of three parts--introduction, text and epilogue. In theintroduction part, this paper firstly tells us the reason and significance of the selectedtopic. It then presents and analyzes the present situation of Guo Xuebo. And it finallydefines and interprets two concepts: ecological literature and ecological criticism.The main part is divided into three chapters:The first chapter introduces the ecological thoughts of Guo Xuebo’s novel.Embarking from the text, this chapter, including three sections, investigatesthoroughly the multiple ecological implications of Guo Xuebo’s works from fourperspectives: nature and humanity, the ecological holism, all things have spirit, allliving things equality. The first section uncovers dialectical relationship betweenhuman and nature from Guo Xuebo’s works, such as Grandpa of Haizi and OldSnow Wolf, Eagle and Bitter Sand. When human being lives harmoniously withnature, human can live a better life. If not, the nature will revenge. Starting from twocriticisms of human desire to eating and developing the economy, the second sectionhighlights Guo Xuebo’s criticizing on the concept of “Anthropocentrism”, andunearth the concept of "Ecological Holism" in Sand Fox, Tianhaizi and other works.The third section explores the thoughts of “all living things have spirits” in Shamanism and “all living things are equal” in Buddhism, aiming to weak uphuman fear of nature with religious factor and save the ecological crisis caused bylack of faith.The second chapter introduces Guo Xuebo’s ecological aesthetic expressionvector. The first section explores how Guo Xuebo expresses his thoughts throughecological aesthetics images of wolf, desert, desert ruins of the ancient cities, threerepresentative images selected from Guo Xuebo’s works. The second sectionuncovers Guo Xuebo’s magical style from two aspects: samatrimonial factors andfolk culture. The third section mainly analyzes and summarizes Guo Xuebo’s idealecological personality character types, mainly including the watchmen in the desert,hermits combined of the religious culture and ecological ideal, the guardian oftraditional culture and outsiders. And it briefly analyzes ecological destroy images,such as lama Hu, bold man, etc.The third chapter introduces the motivation and value of Guo Xuebo’secological novel. The first section in this chapter introduces the reason why GuoXuebo starts his road of ecological literature creation from two aspects of hispersonal growth experience and the call of the ecological crisis. In the second section,the paper explores the value of Guo Xuebo’s ecological literature creation from twoaspects of changing lifestyle and returning to nature.In the epilogue part, the paper analyzes the importance of ecological problems,and briefly analyzes the deficiencies existing in the Guo Xuebo’s works.
