Zhong xing and Tan yuanchun are the most important representative persons of Jingling School in the Late Ming Dynasty. Their prose creation represents the achievements in prose of Jingling School to some extent. This paper selectes their prose as objects to understand the spiritual belief and the literary pursuit of the two writers in my hometown. Meanwhile, I hope to elucidate their feature and achievements in prose by close reading and pay attention to their contribution to the development of Ancient Chinese prose. Finally, this paper strives to promote the whole study on Jingling School and the research on writers and works about Zhong xing and Tan yuanchun.This article includes four chapters. The first chapter is named as "Theoretical research on prose of Zhong xing and Tan yuanchun " focusing on their theory of prose which is divided into Stylistics of prose、Creations of prose、reception theory of prose. In the other hand, it will discuss the concrete impact of their prose theory on creation. The second chapter is "Contents research on prose of Zhong xing and Tan yuanchun", which is the main part of this paper and stands on a careful analysis on their prose. On the basis of grasping their whole creation of prose, this chapter wants to adopt a new method of classification, in other words, dividing into poetics and viewpoint、scenery appreciation、emotions expressing、female images such four types. The goal here is to break the fence among diverse forms of prose,which may be beneficial to explore the spirit core and unique traits of their integral prose. The third chapter is "Artistic characteristics research on prose of Zhong xing and Tan yuanchun", through close reading, the artistic characteristics of their prose are summarized into three aspects. At first, the characters in prose are shaped by contour and spirit appreciation primarily, which are very conciseness and prominent. Secondly, their language is very appropriate regardless of elegant or plain and also is expert in utilizing metaphor. At last, their art of composition is exquisite and original. Qian qingyi, a famous litterateur in the Late Ming and Early Qing Dynasty, considers the literary style of Zhong xing and Tan yuanchun as deep solitary steep, but in the end of this chapter, it wants to indicate that this viewpoint does not apply to their prose. The fourth chapter is a shufty on the most frequent occurring cities in the prose of Zhong xing and Tan yuanchun, focusing on the emotion about Zhong xing and Nanjing, Tan yuanchun and Jingling in order to comprehend the influence of their passionate citise upon prose. In the meantime, through appreciating the city images that the prose displays, this chapter hopes to promote the regional culture study of their prose.
