Since the 1990s, urban areas attract a large number of rural surplus labourers with the booming economy, a variety of goods and comfortable fashionable lifestyle. A huge amount of farmers depart from their farmland and hometown. Meanwhile, we noticed that there is a great conflict between the necessity of leaving the hometown and the urge of return. Leaving the rural area does give the group of people a fleeting novelty and pride. However, the inherent gap between the rural culture and the urban culture keeps these farmers from gradually blending into the urban life. In presence of the temptation from hometown, more and more drifters desire to return. In Henan province, this phenomenon is typical. Henan writers record this phenomenon based on their own life.Taking the combination of literature and sociology study, this paper investigates the collective unconscious mind and confusion spiritual values that hid behind the phenomenon of the above stated return, in order to explore the meaning of the local novels creation in this rapid change era. This article can be separated into three parts.Initially, the first section of the paper reviews the text rendering of Henan return local fiction, i.e. the dark fate township track of returner from the initial intent to return and implementation to the departure or death. Different patterns of these permutations regarding specific details of narrative are the recreation of Lu Xun ’Home-return mode’. Thereby, a wealthy novel is produced. What’s more, the second section of the paper sorts out the Henan local fiction since the 1990s from the creation of a joint body and the psychological mechanisms of figures to deeply explore the implication of return novel. Specifically, we find that it mainly consists of three aspects, the power behind the call and trauma, the struggle of identity, and imagination of spiritual wandering Utopian. Finally, the third section summaries the Henan local fiction regarding the return to homeland since the 1990s. Its ’village’ shaping, presentation and review of rural life, and construction of spiritual home, contribute to the future creation of local novel. But to some extent, the excessive focus on the countryside and farmland will be the restriction in return. This weakens their concerns towards the rural life today that will lead to categorization and symbolization of the shaped character of figures.
