A Study On The Legend

Zhu Suchen is a dramatist at the beginning of the Qing Dynasty. Most scholars’ researches suggest that he was born around 1620 and died in 1701 later. Zhu Suchen and his young brother Zhu Zuochao is the backbone of Suzhou writer group in Chinese Opera from the late Ming Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty. Zhu Suchen writes many chuanqi Drama in his life and only 15 plays we can appreciate today like Qinlouyue, Wenxingxian. However, we have paid little attention to Zhu Suchen’s love chuanqi Drama Qinlouyue. With this article, the author would like to reveal a real chuanqi Drama Qinlouyue by introducing its ideological content, including the source of this story, rich and colorful character images. Through the text interpretation, this article will analysis the emotion and society views, probe the rationality of the existence of such views and the countermarch in the ideology. In the last, the article will focus on the analysis of the four typical character images such as scholar, prostitute, upright official and gallant man. We will make a further discussion about how the author turns his own emotion into characters.The article is divided into four parts, including preface and three chapters.In the preface, the author displays his concern in studying Zhu Suchen, for example study purpose and more.In the first chapter, the author introduces Zhu Suchen’s writing career and the root of chuanqi Drama Qinlouyue. We will comb the Zhu Suchen’s chuanqi Drama’s types and titles, especially Qinlouyue. At last, this section will give a brief summarize about Zhu Suchen’s writing style.In the second chapter, the author analyzes the ideological content of chuanqi Drama Qinlouyue. First, we will comb the main emotional literature ideological trend of the text briefly from the late Ming Dynasty to the early Qing Dynasty, and present the social background of chuanqi Drama Qinlouyue. What’s more, this article would like to outline Tang Xianzu’s cultural core which gives significant influence to Zhu Suchen. We will pay more attention on Zhu Suchen’s inheritance and deviation to Tang Xianzu’s cultural core. In the last, this section will come to conclusion. Although the drama always flashes in Tang Xianzu’s cultural core, but never deviate from the Zhu Suchen’s personal thoughts, that is ethical view of emotion and society view of promoting enlightenment.In the third chapter, the author analyzes the characters images in chuanqi Drama Qinlouyue. We will focus on four main characters that are Lv Guan, Chen Susu, Yuan Zhao and Liu Yue. Through the text interpretation, we can experience different personality traits by different characters images. To some extent, it also reflects the author’s creative thought motivation.
