A Study On Animal Images On Bronzes In Dianchi Area

Yunnan has a bronze civilization that is highly-developed, unique and thus widely praised across the world, and a number of animal images appear on bronze wares by large scale in Dianchi lake area. Such bronzes with animal images are mainly the product of local culture, closely associated with Yue Civilization,"Scythian Culture" of the Eurasia Steppe as well as China’s north branch bronze steles and decorations, but have great distinctions by shape and structure and craftsmanship. Such findings and connotations through the researches on Yunnan’s bronzes with animal images have provided us with plentiful information about climatope, animals and plants, social production and life situation, which have extremely important significance on the study of casting technology for bronze in Yunnan, from its emergence and development. This paper carries out the analysis on the animal-image bronzes in Yunnan by five aspects respectively, i.e. for Dianchi lake area the natural environment and historic evolution, discovery and dist, moulding mode of animal decorative patterns, exploration into the animal images and comparison study of animal images respectively in Dianchi lake area and Central China. Of which, through the classified study mainly on climatic distribution and several categories of animals, the paper describes in detail various types of existing bronzes with animal images in Dianchi lake area. The above study is helpful for us to form into a comprehensive and profound understanding of the climatic environment in Dianchi lake area. Mainly applying the methods in archaeology, fine art and statistics, this paper has conducted the clear-up, survey and comparison on cultural relics already discovered in Dianchi lake area and surroundings through sorting and studying the relevant archaeological material; during the research process the statistical and inductive methods were used for a concrete combing of various themes, eras and characteristics; and meanwhile, the analysis of cultural elements is applied to probe into the origin of such elements and ties with artifacts of the same category yet in other regions, along with the analysis on features of animal-image bronzes in Dianchi lake area. The study of image academic in Dianchi lake area has significance for the academic circles’ understanding of Yunnan Bronze Civilization and, with important academic value, provides us with information of great importance for the analysis on Yunnan’s climate, environment as well as residents’social living status and specific ethnic distributions in pre-Qin, Qin and Han Dynasties.
