| Huang Binhong, a representative figure of modern Chinese landscape painting, is one oftypical Chinese artists who focus on further exploration of traditional Chinese art and, andwho bring forth the new through the old. He changed the declining trend of either rigidity orvulgarity which prevailed in late Ming Dynasty. He blended his solid ancient Chineseliterature knowledge with traditional painting by integrating his life into art, and by regulatinghis own artistic language, thus achieving the highest state of vigor and luxuriance. His artisticpractice has significant enlightenment to the conversion of art from traditional to modern.In this thesis, the author explores Huang Binhong’s influence on other modern artists as wellas his unique technique of Five Ways of Strokes and Seven Methods of Using Ink, and theformation of his style of black, density, thickness and heaviness, by referring to largequantities of resources, studying his works and conducting field investigation in order toknow his life and growth and his process of pursuing art. |
